Your Support Brings Water Security to Senegal

A new water tank now stands tall at the Dodji site of the Fedannde Jolof program in Senegal, bringing greater water security and hope to the community. This essential resource was made possible through the partnership between the Grand Canyon Synod and the Senegalese Lutheran Development Services (SLDS).

In a letter of thanks to Bishop Deborah Hutterer, SLDS Executive Director Philippe Badji expressed the community’s gratitude:

“On behalf of our staff and the people we serve, please accept our many thanks for this precious support. As you may see from the photos and the short video, it’s already installed and we feel more secure with regard to the water supply, and beneficiaries will hopefully have water for their activities.”

The tank will support marketing activities—local agricultural and economic initiatives—by ensuring a reliable supply of water. This stability means crops can be grown more consistently, and community livelihoods can flourish, even during dry periods.

As people of faith, we believe that clean, accessible water is a sign of God’s abundance and care for all creation. This project reflects our call to “serve one another in love” (Galatians 5:13) and shows what can happen when Lutherans walk alongside one another across continents.

Thank you to all who made this possible. Your prayers, generosity, and commitment to global mission have filled more than a water tank—you have filled hearts with hope.
