As the nation watches another video exposing police violence against a Black man after a traffic stop, there will be great suffering and despair emerging from across the United States. In just over a week we have witnessed mass gun violence in California – twice – and the shooting of a protester at a future police training site in Atlanta.  Each of these tragedies inspires grief, not only for the lives lost and forever altered but also for our loss of confidence in a system that continues to fail us, over and over.

Culture Matters: Seeing Worship Through Another’s Eyes

Join Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) at Ascension Lutheran in Paradise Valley, Arizona on February 4, 2023, 9am – 3::30pm for a workshop exploring music from a variety of cultures. Register on the ALCM website.

Using current worship resources, we will discuss cultural practices, theological ideas embedded in poetry and songs, and performance practice as we learn and sing church music from around the world. The day will include worship, presentations, communal singing, and discussion.

2023 Lutheran Day at the Legislature

Lutherans and friends of Lutherans from across the state will gather at the Arizona Capitol in Wesley Bolin Plaza for a day of advocacy on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am to learn, to witness, and voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love. YAGM final application deadline is 2/1/2023

The final deadline to apply for Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) is Feb. 1, 2023.

Now even more communities are ready to welcome you. The YAGM team recently announced that the Mexico and Central Europe country programs will be reopening in 2023. Volunteers will have the opportunity to serve there and in four other country programs. Learn more at ELCA.org/YAGM.
