Pastor Amy Janssen

Tanque Verde Lutheran Church – Tucson

Pastor Amy has been guiding youth and children in faith since she herself was a "youth!" By high school, she was a counselor at her Iowa church's one-week summer bible camp, much like our GCS Campformation. During college, Pastor Amy served as a counselor and staff leader at Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Ferryville, Wisconsin, and as a team leader for Gustavus Youth Outreach, a ministry that led weekend youth retreats for youth groups in the vicinity of Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. From 2008 to 2016, Pastor Amy was the "uber-volunteer" for youth ministry at Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado, where she led weekly high school ministry activities, guided youth on summer trips and ELCA Youth Gatherings, and mentored for confirmation students. After discerning her call to pastoral ministry, Pastor Amy studied for her M. Div. at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, served as a pastoral intern in Sierra Vista, and began her first call in June of 2020 - WAY up north near Duluth, MN.

Pastor Amy came to Tucson in February of 2024 to serve as Associate Pastor at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, and she looks forward to continuing her lifelong journey of joyfully fostering faith in young people here in the Grand Canyon Synod. When not at church, she enjoys taking a local pottery class, avoiding snakes on the local hiking trails, and diving into interesting and exciting stories with the latest movies and TV series.
