The Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association (LFCNA) invites participants to its 5th Annual Valborg Tollefsrud Educational Event, titled Holy Transitions: Spirituality, Aging, and the Work of Accompaniment, on May 7, 2026, held via Zoom.

Led by Rev. Dr. Lorraine Leist, BCC-PCHAC, this two-hour online presentation will take place at 5–7 pm Mountain Time (Arizona). Participants from across time zones can join (3–5 pm AKT, 4–6 pm PT, 6–8 pm CT, 7–9 pm ET). Register here: lutheranfcna.org/event-6603209

Aging is often understood through biological or psychological lenses, but this event centers a deeper truth: aging is also profoundly spiritual. Through theological reflection, case studies, and guided conversation, participants will explore how later life raises essential questions of meaning, loss, resilience, and hope.

This conversation aligns closely with our Lutheran understanding of vocation and accompaniment—walking alongside one another in seasons of vulnerability while honoring the dignity of every person as a beloved child of God. As spiritual questions intensify with age, so too does the call for faithful presence, deep listening, and compassionate care.

While designed especially for Faith Community Nurses, this event is open to all, including clergy, lay leaders, and others engaged in ministries of care and accompaniment. Whether you are serving in a formal caregiving role or simply seeking to better support those navigating life’s later chapters, this event offers practical insight and theological grounding.

In a world that often overlooks the spiritual depth of aging, this gathering offers a timely invitation to reflect, learn, and accompany with intention and grace.
