April “Good Green News”: Stay Connected, Take Action, and Celebrate Earth Day

Lutherans Restoring Creation (LRC) is inviting people across the church to stay connected, take action, and deepen their commitment to climate justice through a series of upcoming events and opportunities. Explore all the details, register for events, and access resources by reading the full April “Good Green News” newsletter.

Next up: the “Afterglow” Connections Call on April 28 at 5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET. This gathering will build on the energy of Earth Day and the recent LRC Gathering in North Carolina. Participants will hear reflections from attendees, share resources (including green burial information, music, and congregational ideas), and explore how to carry this momentum forward in their own communities. Registration is now open.

LRC is also encouraging congregations to take concrete action through synod resolutions, reminding us that these efforts can shape the wider church. If your synod’s deadline has not passed, now is the time to act—review the model resolution and consider submitting it.

Looking ahead, the 2026 National Faith + Climate Forum on Saturday, April 25, will gather people of faith across the country to lead on climate solutions rooted in justice, hope, and spiritual courage. This is a key opportunity to engage both locally and nationally in faithful climate leadership.

For those seeking encouragement, LRC points to the American Climate Leadership Awards Finalist Celebration, highlighting stories of communities already doing this work—an antidote to discouragement and a reminder that faithful action is making a difference.

Additional opportunities include:

  • “Getting Back to Our Roots” Connections Call – May 19

  • “Coffee with Christine” – May 20

  • Applications open for the Certificate in Climate Justice and Faith, offering formation for leaders ready to engage climate advocacy where they are.

Congregations are also invited to celebrate Earth Day through special offerings and shared commitments, supporting ongoing work in creation care.

As Lutherans, we understand care for creation not as optional, but as part of our vocation—rooted in God’s ongoing work in the world. These opportunities from LRC offer practical ways to live out that calling together.
