Blessed to Be: A Bold Webinar Series on Gender, Marriage, and Faith
In celebration of the 500th wedding anniversary of Martin Luther and Katie von Bora, the ELCA Wittenberg Center invites all to a free three-part webinar series this fall titled Blessed to Be: Exploring Gender, Companionship, and Sexuality. The series brings together leading ELCA theologians to reflect on themes of gender justice, reformation, embodiment, and sacred relationship through a Lutheran lens.
Each one-hour session takes place from 12–1 p.m. Central (10–11 a.m. Arizona) and includes live Spanish interpretation:
Sept. 30 – Blessed to Be Bold: The Reformation, Power, and Women
Dr. Mary Streufert explores the marriage of Martin Luther and Katie von Bora and connects it to theological reformation and evolving understandings of gender and power.
Oct. 1 – Blessed to Break the Mold: Marriage, Tradition, and Divine Disruption
Rev. Dr. Kit Kleinhans and Rev. Dr. Themba Mkhabela reflect on how Luther’s theology of marriage can inform contemporary conversations, including cultural perspectives from South Africa.
Oct. 2 – Blessed to Delight: Sexuality, Faith, and God’s Good Creation
Rev. Dr. Elaine Neuenfeldt and Dr. Elyssa Salinas-Lazarski explore sexuality and bodily autonomy as sacred gifts, rooted in Lutheran theology and reform.
This engaging online series is a powerful opportunity to revisit Lutheran theological anthropology, affirm human dignity, and explore how reformation continues to shape our lives today.
