From Conflict to Community: AFN’s October Invitations

Faith in Community: October Opportunities from AFN

Arizona Faith Network’s newsletter offers opportunities to learn about the ballot, care for creation, and build relationships across faith traditions. Highlights include an October 14 voter education webinar, an October 15 community brunch in Chandler, and AFN’s October 20 Annual Gathering.

For Lutherans, love of neighbor takes shape in everyday service and participation in community life. These gatherings offer practical ways to live out that calling alongside our interfaith neighbors.

Upcoming opportunities include:

  • Cherishing Creation Collaborative — October 13, 10 a.m., via Zoom. Explore regional water systems and how reducing nighttime lighting can protect migrating birds.

  • What’s on Your Ballot? — October 14, 5:30–6:30 p.m. MST, via Zoom. This free, nonpartisan webinar explains Arizona races and statewide propositions to help voters make informed decisions.

  • Community Voting Celebration — October 15, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 739 W. Erie St., Chandler. Enjoy free brunch, ballot education, Election Protection Peacekeeper training, and community connections. Come for all or part of the open house.

  • Annual Gathering — October 20. Gather around the theme “From Conflict to Community” and celebrate community leaders, including Above & Beyond Award recipient Alan Zeichick. Learn more and register.

The newsletter also features opportunities to serve as Poll Chaplains and Peacekeepers, an interfaith dinner, a conversation about reconciliation in Northern Ireland, and Vote Is Sacred community celebrations in Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff. Additional offerings include weekly meditation, documentary screenings, and a December conversation about the Psalms, faith, and family.
