LEAN Voter Guides: Give Nevada and Utah Ballot Questions Your Full Attention

Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy in Nevada (LEAN) has released 2026 voter guides for Nevada and Utah, encouraging voters to “vote ballot questions first.” As you prepare for the November 3 election, take time to understand proposed constitutional amendments and their lasting effects on our communities.

“Constitutional amendments can shape our communities for years to come, and they deserve the same careful attention we give to candidates for office,” writes the Rev. Paul Larson, LEAN’s advocacy director.

The guides offer explanations of what “yes” and “no” votes would mean, connections to ELCA social teaching, and LEAN’s positions where applicable:

These resources are especially relevant to our synod’s congregations in southern Nevada and our Lutheran community in St. George, Utah. They invite thoughtful discernment about how public decisions affect our neighbors.

As Lutherans, our baptismal calling to serve others and seek justice and peace extends into civic life. Studying ballot questions is one practical way to consider our neighbors’ well-being and participate responsibly.

Read the guide for your state, compare it with your official voter information and sample ballot, and share it with others. Visit Nevada’s election website or Utah’s voter information website for official election resources.
