Learn to Lead with Hope: LFCNA Workshop for Nurses, Clergy, and Caregivers
On Tuesday, October 7, from 5–7 p.m. Mountain Time, the Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association (LFCNA) invites you to a powerful two-hour online workshop: Hope in Practice: Applying Solution-Focused Communication Techniques in Response to Crisis. This interactive training is ideal for faith community nurses, clergy, and ministry professionals—anyone on the front lines of care and accompaniment during moments of mental health and substance use crisis. View PDF here.
Register now at lutheranfcna.org/event-6302058. The cost is $30 for LFCNA members and $50 for non-members. Participants will earn 2.0 contact hours, approved by the Montana Nurses Association.
Led by Laurra Aagaard, MA, MS—an educator, consultant, and trainer with over four decades of experience in behavioral health, wellness, and spiritual care—this workshop introduces the Solution-Focused model, a strengths-based approach that shifts conversations from problems to possibilities. In real-world ministry, where time is short and needs are great, this method offers a practical and theological way to embody hope and agency.
Participants will learn to use:
The Miracle Question: inviting vision in the midst of despair
Scaling Techniques: identifying degrees of progress and capacity
Exception-Finding: naming past success as a pathway forward
From a Lutheran perspective, these approaches resonate deeply with our calling to accompany others in the crucible of suffering—not as fixers, but as faithful witnesses to God’s healing work already underway. As Scripture reminds us, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12).
We encourage synod members—nurses, pastors, deacons, lay leaders, and anyone involved in care ministries—to register and attend. Please also share this opportunity with colleagues in your congregations or ecumenical networks. Together, we can help our communities navigate crisis with compassion, clarity, and hope.
