Oct. 23: Equip Your Congregation to Respond to Addiction

Awakening the Church to Address Addiction: One-Day Virtual Conference on Oct. 23

Addiction affects every community—and every congregation. Yet many faith leaders and church communities feel unequipped to respond. This fall, you are invited to join a powerful, one-day online event designed to change that.

The 2025 Addiction & Faith Conference, hosted by the Center of Addiction & Faith, will be held virtually on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MST. This year’s theme is “Awakening the Church to Address Addiction.” The cost is $50, and the event is open to all: clergy and laypeople, healthcare professionals, youth leaders, those in recovery, and anyone affected by addiction.

Participants will gain:

  • A deeper understanding of addiction and its spiritual dimensions

  • Practical tools to make your congregation more recovery-friendly

  • Hope, insight, and tangible next steps to support healing and change

In Lutheran theology, we recognize both the brokenness of the world and the call to be communities of grace and accompaniment. Addiction isolates, but the Body of Christ draws near. This conference helps congregations reflect the love and healing of Christ in tangible ways.

We encourage all leaders and members across the Grand Canyon Synod to share this opportunity with their congregations and ministry teams, especially throughout September and October. A flyer is available to help you spread the word.

Let us awaken our churches to walk alongside those impacted by addiction, not with shame or silence, but with courage, compassion, and Christ’s healing love.
