Mountain View Lutheran Church Seeks Part-Time Accountant in Phoenix

Mountain View Lutheran Church (MVLC), located at 11002 S. 48th Street in Phoenix, is seeking a detail-oriented, part-time Accountant to support the financial life of the congregation. Applications are now being accepted.

This non-exempt, part-time position reports to the Senior Pastor and plays a critical role in ensuring faithful stewardship and financial integrity within the ministry.

Position Overview

The Accountant will manage day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities, including:

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Preparing monthly financial reports for Church Council and ministry teams

  • Submitting monthly check listings to the Senior Pastor, Church Treasurer, and Office Manager

  • Preparing the annual budget and year-end financial reports for the annual meeting

  • Cooperating with the annual audit of church financial records

  • Performing related financial and administrative duties as assigned

This position requires a strong understanding of fund-based accounting, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • An accounting background and college degree or at least five years of verifiable experience performing similar duties

  • Practical experience with fund-based accounting and reconciliation

  • Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks Pro and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • A commitment to teamwork and support of church ministries

  • A Christian-based life and willingness to engage in the life of Mountain View Lutheran Church

  • Successful completion of a background check

Flexibility in scheduling is required when needed.
