Music for Food: Jazz That Nourishes the Community

Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Phoenix invites the community to a free Jazz Vespers on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., featuring pianist Beth Lederman, flutist Joe Corral, and bassist and vocalist Felix Sainz. The concert is part of the church’s Music for Food series, combining live music with support for neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Location: Mount of Olives Lutheran Church, 3546 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Admission is free, and light refreshments will follow the performance.

The evening brings together longtime musical collaborators. Corral, a former Phoenix Symphony flutist, is also an accomplished jazz musician, while Sainz performs on bass, guitar, and vocals. Their friendship and musical chemistry promise a memorable evening.

The series benefits the Olive Branch Community of Hope Food Pantry, a ministry of Mount of Olives that serves more than 300 families each week. What began as a coat closet has grown into a vital community resource through partnerships with St. Mary’s Food Bank and Waste Not.

The concert is made possible through an anonymous grant from Vanguard Charitable Trust, with reception refreshments supported by a Thrivent Action Grant.

Rooted in the Lutheran call to love and serve our neighbors, Music for Food brings faith into action through music, fellowship, and generosity.

All are welcome. Bring a friend, enjoy an evening of jazz, and support the ministry of feeding neighbors in need.
