Nominate Inspiring Leaders in Lutheran Education—Deadline Extended

The Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA) is inviting nominations for its annual awards honoring outstanding leaders in Lutheran education—and there’s now more time to participate.

Each year, ELEA lifts up individuals who make a meaningful impact in ELCA schools and early childhood programs. These leaders shape communities of faith, nurture young people, and embody the call to serve with wisdom, compassion, and excellence. If someone comes to mind in your ministry or congregation, now is the time to recognize their work.

Nominations are open now at: elcaschools.org/awards-and-recognition/

Two key awards are available:

Distinguished Educational Leader of the Year Award (In Memory of Pat Garrett)

This award honors an exceptional leader serving in an ELCA school or early childhood program—such as a director, principal, or administrator—who inspires others and leads with excellence. While leaders may apply directly, a nomination from a colleague is a powerful way to affirm their ministry.

Distinguished Rostered Leader of the Year Award

This award recognizes a pastor or rostered minister who provides outstanding spiritual leadership within a congregation connected to a school or early childhood center. This is a nomination-only award, and nominees do not need to submit an application.

In a time when faithful leadership matters deeply, these awards offer an opportunity to name and celebrate the quiet, steady work happening across our communities. As Lutherans, we are called not only to serve but also to bear witness—to tell the stories of those who reflect Christ’s love in their leadership.

Take a moment to reflect:

  • Who has shaped your ministry?

  • Who has supported your staff or strengthened your community?

  • Who has made a lasting difference in the lives of students and families?

Your nomination is more than recognition—it is a way of giving thanks for the work God is doing through these leaders.
