During the webinar, leaders shared how recent federal policy changes have impacted refugee services. While new arrivals have paused, the work of accompaniment continues every day with families already here.
Current priorities include:
Helping families remain stable and securely housed
Supporting employment and job readiness
Providing ESL and youth programming
Walking alongside families as they navigate ongoing uncertainty
Participants also raised thoughtful and urgent questions—about employment, education, advocacy, and what comes next. At the heart of every question was a shared commitment: How can we help?
As Lutherans, we are called to accompany our neighbors with courage and hope. In a time of uncertainty, this work reflects our baptismal call to serve all people, striving for justice and peace.
