About the Role

Working closely with the Music Director and Pastor, the Collaborative Musician is central to creating joyful, meaningful worship that engages the congregation in proclaiming God’s love in Christ for all people in musically diverse ways.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Principal keyboard leader for the 9:00 a.m. Sunday worship service

  • Leadership for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter special services

  • Primary choir accompanist (September–May), including Thursday rehearsals and Sunday worship

  • Preparing offering and prelude music as needed

  • Collaborating with the Music Director and Pastor on liturgy and music planning

  • Coordinating piano maintenance with the Music Director

At Our Saviour’s, music is not performance — it is proclamation. The role calls for a musician who understands the Lutheran liturgical tradition and leads worshipful, engaging music that encourages and uplifts congregational song.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in music or related experience

  • Minimum two years of church music ministry experience

  • Familiarity with Lutheran liturgy strongly preferred

  • Organ experience preferred (or willingness to learn)

  • Strong communication skills, reliability, and preparation

About the Congregation

Our Saviour’s is a centrally located, progressive congregation rooted in Lutheran tradition. A Reconciling in Christ ELCA congregation, they follow a traditional ELCA liturgy while embracing expansive language and a healthy dose of current hymnody, including All Creation Sings.

The worshipping community of about 100 appreciates a mix of styles — from traditional hymnody to bluegrass. Musical resources include:

  • Digital Allen organ

  • Steinway grand piano

  • “Loaves and fishes” choral choir

  • Devoted, member-led bell choir

Benefits include six paid Sundays off per year.

If you or someone you know feels called to help lead God’s people in song — grounded in Lutheran theology and open to creative expression — this may be a joyful next step in ministry.

Applications are due March 31.
