Palestinian Christian Leader to Speak in Phoenix: Sept. 14 Event at St. Francis Xavier
Can Americans Help Bring a Just Peace to Palestine and Israel?
Join us for an evening of education, witness, and action. Dr. Philip Farah, a Palestinian-American Christian and founding member of the Palestinian Christian Alliance for Peace, will speak in Phoenix on Sunday, September 14, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church (4715 N. Central Ave). His talk, “Can Americans Help Bring a Just Peace to Palestine/Israel?”, will offer perspective on the ongoing crisis in Gaza and how people of faith in the United States can support a future grounded in justice and peace.
Dr. Farah was born and raised in Jerusalem and immigrated to the United States in 1978. With a 35-year career as an economist in Washington, D.C., he brings deep knowledge and lived experience to the current conversation. He has spoken widely on peace and justice issues in the Middle East and has been featured on NPR’s On Point and Democracy Now!.
His personal story is a powerful one: he has relatives currently living in Gaza—some of whom have tragically been killed during the current war. Dr. Farah offers both theological and geopolitical insight into what it means to seek peace with justice, especially as people of faith. His work through the Palestinian Christian Alliance for Peace (PCAP) lifts up the role that Palestinian Christians play in advocating for nonviolence and dignity for all people in the region.
We invite rostered ministers, lay leaders, and members of congregations across the Grand Canyon Synod to attend this important event. Refreshments will be served.
