Pastor and Indie-Pop Artist Jonathan Rundman to Lead Worship and Concert at Spirit of Grace

Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church in Surprise, Arizona will welcome ELCA pastor, singer, and songwriter Jonathan Rundman for a special weekend of worship leadership and music on March 21–22, 2026.

Rundman will serve as the musician for worship at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, and again at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22. In addition, he will present a community concert at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. The concert is open to the public, and a freewill offering will be received.

Rundman is an ELCA pastor and musician whose songwriting blends faith, storytelling, and contemporary sound. A 2022 graduate of Luther Seminary, he currently serves as Pastor of Worship and Music at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake, Minnesota. He also serves as pastor to seasonal members at Spirit of Grace, making this visit a meaningful connection between congregations and ministries across the church.

Critics have praised Rundman’s music for its distinctive style and thoughtful lyricism. The New York Times described his work as “bright, catchy indie-pop,” while Billboard noted that “Rundman takes lyrical risks that pay off,” and Paste Magazine highlighted his “clever, intelligent songwriting.”

Born and raised in the Finnish-American communities of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and now based in Minneapolis, Rundman combines literate lyrics, indie-pop hooks, Nordic folk influences, and garage-rock energy. Along with his solo career, he also tours and records as a keyboardist for the acclaimed Americana/rock band The Silos.

Spirit of Grace invites the wider community to attend the concert and join in worship during Rundman’s visit. His ministry reflects the Lutheran tradition’s deep connection between faith, music, and proclamation, offering a unique opportunity to experience both worship leadership and live performance.
