Praying Together for Christian Unity: Join the 2026 Statewide Service
Join Us for the 2026 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Thursday, January 22, 2026 | 6:30 PM | Phoenix
With joy and gratitude, we invite you to take part in the 2026 Statewide Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, an ecumenical gathering of Christians from across Arizona committed to prayer, fellowship, and the visible unity of Christ’s Church.
Church leaders and members from many Christian traditions will gather on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6:30 PM at Historic Tanner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (20 South 8th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85034). This year’s service will be graciously hosted by The Rev’d Dr. Benjamin N. Thomas, Sr. and the congregation of Tanner Chapel, a historic and vital witness to faith, justice, and community in downtown Phoenix.
This statewide service is part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, celebrated each year by churches around the world. Worship resources for 2026 have been prepared by the Armenian Apostolic Church, inviting Christians everywhere to pray with a shared liturgy shaped by a global and ancient Christian tradition.
For Lutherans, this gathering reflects our deep commitment to the unity of the Church grounded in baptism and God’s reconciling grace in Jesus Christ. As we pray together across denominational lines, we bear witness to the truth that unity is not something we create ourselves, but a gift God continually gives—and calls us to live into—for the sake of the world.
This ecumenical prayer service is an opportunity to:
Pray together for the unity of Christ’s Church
Deepen relationships across Christian traditions
Bear public witness to the reconciling love of Christ
All are welcome. Clergy and lay leaders, congregations, and ecumenical partners from across Arizona and beyond are encouraged to attend.
Social media graphics and sharing assets are available here.
We hope you will join us for this meaningful evening of prayer and shared witness.
