Faith leaders regularly walk alongside individuals and families struggling with substance use and addiction. Yet our responses—rooted in theology, culture, and personal experience—are often shaped by assumptions that deserve deeper reflection.
The Center of Addiction & Faith invites clergy, lay leaders, and all who care about healing in their communities to a free webinar, Rethinking Addiction: A Faith Leader’s Guide, on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, from

About the Session
Guest presenter Rachel Bowling (she/they) will guide participants through a reflective exploration of how we understand and respond to substance use. Using a structured survey tool, participants will examine moral, medical, and social frameworks that shape addiction responses within our communities. The session will highlight insights gathered from professionals and recovery advocates nationwide and offer pathways for healing, inclusion, and informed pastoral care.
This conversation invites us into the compassionate heart of Lutheran theology: to see each person as created in the image of God and deserving of dignity, accompaniment, and hope. As people of faith, we are uniquely positioned to support the healing journeys of individuals and families confronting addiction. This webinar will help expand our understanding and equip us with practical tools for ministry.
