Rev. Tim Brown Named Churchwide Representative for the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly

The Grand Canyon Synod is pleased to announce that Rev. Tim Brown, Director for Congregational Stewardship Support in the Office of the Presiding Bishop, will serve as our churchwide representative for the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly, held Thursday, June 11, through Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Love of Christ Lutheran Church.

Rev. Brown currently serves in the Office of the Presiding Bishop as Director for Congregational Stewardship Support, where he creates and curates relationships and resources to help synods and congregations fuel their ministries. A pastor in the ELCA, he has served congregations in Chicago, Illinois, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and brings deep experience in stewardship, congregational vitality, and churchwide partnership. He lives in Raleigh with his wife and two sons and is often found in a coffee shop or brewery, reading or writing what he hopes is something interesting.

We will gather under the assembly theme, “Rooted in God’s Story,” grounded in the witness of Psalm 78: “We will tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord.” This theme invites us to reflect together on how God’s enduring story continues to shape our shared life, calling, and stewardship as the church in this time and place.

We are grateful to Love of Christ Lutheran Church in Mesa for once again hosting our synod assembly and for their continued partnership and hospitality over many years.

More details about the 2026 Grand Canyon Synod Assembly—including registration, worship leadership, and the full agenda—will be shared in the months ahead. For now, we give thanks for Rev. Tim Brown’s willingness to join us and look forward to gathering as a synod, rooted together in God’s unfolding story.
