SYAT Retreat at Camp Pinerock Charts Next Steps for Youth & Family Ministry
SYAT, the Synod Youth Advisory Team, came together for a productive and spirit-filled retreat on October 10-11 at Camp Pinerock in Prescott, Arizona. Team members traveled from Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tucson to focus on the important work of supporting children's, youth, and youth adult ministry throughout our synod.
During our time together, we evaluated our first year's goals, made thoughtful amendments where needed, and encouraged one another in our shared mission. The weekend included diving into the practical details of budget planning, exploring new ways for congregations to collaborate with one another, sharing meals in the camp lodge, and taking in the breathtaking views that surrounded us at Camp Pinerock.
We were delighted to welcome our new member, Pastor Amy Jannsen from Tucson, to her first SYAT retreat. Her perspective and passion for youth ministry are already proving to be valuable additions to our work.
Looking ahead, we're excited to announce that scholarships and other resources for children's, youth, and young adult ministers may be made available across the synod in the coming weeks and months. Continue to check out our new webpage for additional resources too. One of our first major initiatives following this retreat will be reaching out to all congregations in the synod. We want to gain a clearer, more comprehensive picture of what children's, youth, and young adult ministries look like in your community. Stay tuned for a phone call or email from us—we look forward to hearing your story!
Most importantly, this retreat was a blessing and a joy. Seeing familiar faces, praying together, encountering the Holy Spirit, and experiencing true fellowship reminded us why this work matters. We're energized and ready to serve and support our wonderful synod.
