Trinity Cathedral to Host Free Screening of Sanctuary in Downtown Phoenix
People of faith from across the Valley are invited to a free Pride Month screening of the new feature documentary Sanctuary on Friday, June 12, at 6 p.m. at Trinity Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt Street in downtown Phoenix.
The evening begins with a free dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the film screening at 6:45 p.m., with a Q&A discussion afterward. All are welcome.
Hosted by Trinity Cathedral and the Re-Humanization Project, Sanctuary explores the experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals within modern faith systems. Told through the story of a visionary architect whose passion project becomes a lifeline, the documentary reflects on what happens when doctrine and identity collide—and how sacred spaces of refuge, belonging, and hope can emerge.
Alongside this personal journey, scholars and spiritual leaders from multiple religious traditions share how communities of faith are working to welcome marginalized people and reimagine what it means to belong.
For Lutherans, conversations around welcome, accompaniment, and community are deeply rooted in our understanding of God’s grace and the dignity of every person. This screening offers an opportunity for learning, reflection, and dialogue during Pride Month.
The event is free, but RSVP is encouraged. Register for the event here.
