Walk, Learn, and Advocate: This Week with Arizona Faith Network

Arizona Faith Network (AFN) is offering a full slate of opportunities this week to engage in faithful public witness, deepen interfaith relationships, and work toward justice across Arizona. From today’s Interfaith Day at the Capitol to ongoing dialogue, learning, and advocacy events, there are multiple ways for people and congregations across our synod to participate.

Today, Wednesday, March 25 (8:00 am – 4:00 pm), AFN invites participation in the We Are One Beloved Community: Interfaith Day at the Capitol in Phoenix. The day begins with an Interfaith Prayer Walk at 8:00 am from Neighborhood Ministries (1918 W Van Buren St), followed by gathering at the Capitol at 8:50 am. This day of prophetic witness includes prayer, relationship-building across faith traditions, and engagement with state legislators.

AFN also continues its Interfaith Book Group (Wednesdays through April 1, 6:00–7:00 pm via Zoom), exploring shared themes across Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Additional upcoming opportunities include:

  • Roots of Injustice, Seeds of Change (March 28, Flagstaff) – a workshop on Indigenous history and right relationship

  • Snowbowl Effect Film Screening (March 30, Flagstaff) – exploring land, culture, and justice

  • Our Voice, Our Vote (March 31, Zoom) – conversation on voting rights with Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes

  • Poll Chaplain/Peacekeeper Training (April 13, Zoom) – preparing faith leaders to support safe, fair elections

  • Interfaith Dialogue: Shared Values in American Scripture (beginning April 23, Zoom)

  • Community Healing & Health Fair (April 24, Phoenix)

Ongoing weekly practices such as Monday Meditation (noon via Zoom) provide space for spiritual grounding amid this work.

These opportunities reflect a deeply Lutheran commitment to public faith—living out our baptismal call not only within the church, but in the public square. As we continue to be Rooted in God’s Story, we are reminded that God’s story consistently draws people together across difference, calling us into relationships of justice, healing, and hope.

The AFN newsletter also includes partner events, interfaith holiday observances, and additional ways to engage across Arizona.

We encourage you to explore the full AFN newsletter, share it with your congregation, and invite others into this work of building the Beloved Community.
