AFN Invites You to Dialogue, Advocacy, and Sacred Encounters

Arizona Faith Network (AFN) continues to offer meaningful opportunities for people of faith across Arizona to learn together, engage in dialogue, and participate in public witness for the common good. Their latest newsletter highlights a number of upcoming events designed to build interfaith relationships and strengthen communities.

A four-week Interfaith Book Group begins tonight, March 11, meeting Wednesdays from 6:00–7:00 p.m. MST at Foothills Christian Church in Glendale (with hybrid participation available via Zoom). The series, God’s Bridge Over a Broken World, explores the shared story of monotheism and invites participants to examine how the scriptures of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam call us toward understanding rather than division.

AFN is also hosting several events focused on civic engagement and public witness. On March 25, people of faith from across Arizona are invited to participate in Interfaith Day at the Capitol at the Arizona State Capitol, gathering to meet legislators, sing, build relationships across traditions, and advocate for policies that strengthen the common good.

Other upcoming opportunities include an Interfaith Dialogue series on Shared Values in American Scripture(beginning March 19 via Zoom), a Sacred Site Visit to the MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism in Scottsdale on March 22, and an interactive workshop in Flagstaff on March 28 exploring right relationship with Native peoples and the history of the United States from Indigenous perspectives.

In addition, AFN continues to host its Monday Meditation gatherings at noon via Zoom, offering a weekly opportunity for prayerful reflection and spiritual grounding led by Interfaith Manager Vasu Bandhu and guests.

The newsletter also includes partner events such as prison art exhibits, justice prayer vigils, book launches, and other opportunities for learning and engagement across the state.

For Lutherans across the Grand Canyon Synod, these gatherings are one way we live out our calling to love our neighbors, seek justice, and participate in God’s work of reconciliation across religious and cultural boundaries.
