Rooted at the Table: Share a Recipe with the Grand Canyon Synod
Meals have always been central to the life of the church. Around tables—large and small—people gather to share food, stories, and community. From Holy Communion to church potlucks, the table is a place where faith and fellowship meet.
The Grand Canyon Synod is inviting congregations and individuals to help create a shared recipe collection called Rooted at the Table, a new project connected with the 2026 Synod Assembly.
We invite you to submit a favorite recipe that reflects your life, your congregation, or your culture. It might be the dish your congregation always expects at a potluck, a family recipe passed down through generations, or a meal that reminds you of gatherings with friends and neighbors.
All submitted recipes will be published online, creating a digital collection that celebrates the many flavors of the Grand Canyon Synod. A curated selection of recipes will also be included in a printed cookbook connected with the 2026 Synod Assembly.
Our synod spans Arizona, southern Nevada, St. George, Utah, and communities across the Navajo Nation, representing a rich diversity of cultures and traditions. This project is an opportunity to celebrate the many ways food connects us to one another and to the life of the church.
Whether your recipe comes from a church kitchen, a family gathering, or a cultural tradition, we invite you to share it with the wider synod.
Submissions are open now, and the deadline to submit recipes is May 1, 2026.
