Watch: The Ordination and Installation of Pastor Guy Ilunga

The Grand Canyon Synod celebrates with Pastor Guy Ilunga and Trinity Lutheran Church in Phoenix following his ordination and installation on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The full service is now available to watch online.

Bishop Deborah K. Hutterer preached and presided at the service at Trinity Lutheran, joined by rostered ministers, members of the congregation, family, friends, and others gathered to celebrate Pastor Ilunga’s call to ministry.

Ordination is both a deeply personal milestone and an occasion for the whole church. In the Lutheran tradition, the church recognizes and publicly affirms God’s call to the ministry of Word and Sacrament, entrusting those ordained with proclaiming the gospel, administering the sacraments, and serving God’s people.

We give thanks for Pastor Ilunga, for the people of Trinity Lutheran, and for all who accompanied him through discernment, candidacy, and preparation for this new chapter of ministry.
