Position Title: Coordinator of Faith Formation among Families with Young Children (P/T 5/hrs/wk)
Position Reports to: Associate Pastor of Faith Formation and Faith in Action
Purpose/Description of Position:
Coordinate and maintain faith formation among children and their families through a faith-based “Stepping Stone” ministry for our 3yr. old’s through 6th graders. Develop events to help further LoC’s ministry outreach to families with children. Work with all staff and key volunteers through a collaborative and cross-generation faith formation strategy.
Work Activities/Functions:
Develop and implement ministry programs for families with young children (Pre-K-6thGrade) that fulfill the LOC mission of faith formation and cross generational involvement
Assist in recruiting teachers/volunteers for children’s ministry program.
Is willing to be trained in Godly Play.
Assist in tracking attendance and involvement of families with young children both members and non-members
Oversee families with young children outreach programs (including VBS and WoW)
Work with other program staff on Sunday mornings with Sunday School program, days of service, greeting parents, sharing information, and creating a climate of hospitality
Aid in advertisement, promotion of all offerings for families with young children on all social media, bulletin, slides, etc.
Engage regularly with the Associate Pastor of Faith Formation, Director of Faith Formation for Youth and Families, and the Director of LoC Preschool to seek collaboration for all avenues of deepening faith-formation across the generations represented at LoC
Qualifications:
Experience as either volunteer or paid staff in ministry with families with young children or holds an Early Education Degree.
Possess a basic understanding of the Christian faith as it is seen through the Lutheran lens of salvation by grace through faith, the importance of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and the importance of the home being the primary place for passing on the faith
Practices personal spiritual disciplines and is engaged in weekly worship
Has experience working as a part of a team and has an ability to recruit volunteers
Is a self-starter, organized, and has a love for sharing faith in Jesus particularly with families with young children
Overview of Hours
5 hours a week
2 hours for WoW (being present to spend time with families building relationships)
3 hours for Sunday School, communication, VBS planning, Intergenerational Picnic
This is based on Sunday School offered from Sept.-May.
VBS for one week in June or July.
