Nurturing Young Disciples: A New Course for Children and Youth Ministry

  • Leading Faith Formation for Children and Youth

  • Practical, theological training for your children’s ministry team—just in time for summer.

As congregations across our synod prepare for summer programming—Vacation Bible School, camp partnerships, or simply thoughtful Sunday school sessions—a new resource is available to help lay leaders and volunteers feel more equipped and confident in their ministry with children and youth.

Leading Faith Formation for Children and Youth is a self-paced online course from Faith+Lead, designed to offer theological grounding and practical tools for those shaping faith in our youngest disciples. Whether you’re starting fresh, looking to enrich your existing ministry, or simply need a refresher, this training is for you.

  • The theological principles central to ministry with children and youth.

  • How to integrate young people into worship life and congregational rhythms.

  • Best practices for maintaining safe, healthy boundaries in ministry.

  • How to understand and respond to children’s developmental stages.

  • Ways to nurture intergenerational connections and family involvement.

This course is especially helpful for volunteers juggling ministry alongside other commitments, often without formal training or structured programs. With this resource, your church can bring new clarity and purpose to how you walk with young people in faith. You’ll gain the confidence to begin—or begin again—with a strong foundation.

As Lutherans, we believe God is already present and active in the lives of our children. Our call is to accompany them with love, consistency, and theological depth. This course helps your team do just that.
