Connect · Communicate · Create
As you arrive and settle into Synod Assembly, Thursday afternoon offers a flexible time to engage, connect, and explore the life we share across the Grand Canyon Synod. Between 2:00 and 5:00 PM, you are invited to take part in one—or both—of the following opportunities: a Congregation Vitality Gathering, or Synod Office Hours with staff. Room locations for both opportunities will be announced as we get closer to the Assembly.
Congregation Vitality Gathering
Hosted by the Congregational Vitality Committee
Across the ELCA and the wider Christian community, many congregations are navigating seasons of change—and in some cases, decline. At the same time, many are discovering new paths toward vitality and renewed purpose.
This gathering will offer space to reflect honestly on the current realities facing our congregations and to begin imagining what faithful, vibrant ministry can look like in today’s context. The work of vitality begins with clarity—naming where we are so that we can discern where God is leading next.
The Congregational Vitality Committee exists to support and strengthen this work, fostering a renewed partnership between congregations and the synod as together we seek to serve our communities in meaningful and life-giving ways.
Whether your congregation is thriving, struggling, or somewhere in between, this is an opportunity to listen, share, and take a first step—or a next step—toward renewed vitality.
Synod Office Hours
Drop in, meet the team, and start a conversation
Throughout the afternoon, members of the synod staff will be available for informal “office hours.” This is an open invitation to stop by, ask questions, share ideas, or simply get to know the people who support ministry across our synod.
You’re welcome to come with something specific in mind—or just to connect.
Available during Office Hours:
Rev. Jacqueline Pagel — Bishop’s Associate for Candidacy and Faith Formation
Rev. Dan Potaznick — Director of Generosity and Strategic Development
Brian Flatgard — Director of Communications
Solveig Muus — Director, Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona
These conversations are often where new ideas begin, questions find clarity, and connections take root.
