Rooted in God’s Story. Rooted in Service.
What We’re Doing
During the 2026 Synod Assembly, we will come together in hands-on service by packing rice and beans for two local partners:
The West Valley Community Food Pantry and First Place Community Center Food Bank.
Together, we will pack:
800 pounds of rice
800 pounds of beans
These staple foods will be divided between both organizations to support families experiencing food insecurity across our communities.
When
Thursday, June 11 | 2:00–5:00 pm
(Additional packing time may be available on Friday during the Assembly if needed.)
How It Works
Assembly participants will:
Open produce bags
Fill them with rice or beans
Tie and prepare them for distribution
This is simple, meaningful work that anyone can do—and it adds up quickly when we serve together.
At the close of the Assembly, the packed rice and beans will be blessed during worship, connecting our shared labor with our shared faith.
Make an Impact
You can extend this ministry beyond the Assembly floor through a financial gift:
$5 = 5 families served
Each $5 donation provides a bag of rice and a bag of beans for five families.

Why This Matters
As we gather under the theme “Rooted in God’s Story,” this project invites us to embody that story—sharing daily bread, serving neighbors, and participating in God’s work in tangible ways.
“We will tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord.”
