Tucson Workshop: Church and Culture

  • Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 7570 North Thornydale Road Tucson, AZ, 85741 United States (map)

Church and Culture; Then and Now--What is Happening in Our World?

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church

Join us for lively conversation centered around how we might “do church” differently for the 21st Century culture. We will explore the relationship between the Church and western culture, contrasting the 20th and 21st Centuries, and the differences in faith and world views between generations. Participants will leave with practical ways to reframe ministry for the 21st century.

We hope to spur imagination of congregational leadership teams asking “How do we do church?” “Where are the people?” so that conversations may continue in our congregations and conferences after the workshop.

  • Course fee: $20.00 covers lunch, refreshments, and course materials

  • Upcoming dates: Saturday Nov. 16, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

What participants are saying…

“This workshop provided a tremendous amount of information, and then went beyond that to help the participants process what we had heard. In lively dialogue, we were able to brainstorm how that new learning might equip us to lead better in our own congregations to make wiser decisions. Deacon Janice is a masterful facilitator. A day well spent!”

Jennie Smith, Seminary Student and Lay leader
Ascension Lutheran Church

“The workshop was action packed and chuck full of pertinent information, which was fodder for many discussions concerning our congregation’s ministry in our community, by our congregation’s leaders. Changes are being made in the way we “do church” because of the workshop.”

Rev. Dr. Kevin E. Ruffcorn, Pastor
Desert Streams Lutheran Church

“The Church and Culture workshop created space for a look into our past as well as our future. One of the most important lessons it has taught us is to look for whose voice (or generation) are we not hearing from when we plan fellowship activities.”

Nanette Christofferson, Seminary Intern; Word and Sacrament candidate
