Fox5's Cassie Mlynarek came to LSSN to speak with Chief Programs Director, Cherry Richardson, Empowerment Services Manager, Mark Zellmer, and Family Case Manager Trnee Stephenson about the nearly $2 million grant we were awarded by Clark County for our Rapid Rehousing Program. Thanks to the grant, LSSN will be able to provide 60 literally homeless families in the valley with a home and other supportive services to help them become stable and self-sufficient once more.

Catie and Josh Sondrol of Mount Olive Lutheran prepare to serve in Thailand

For the past 2 years Catie and Josh Sondrol have traveled to Chiang Mia, Thailand to serve with Joni & Friends at their International Family Retreat which is sponsored by Jasmine and & Joey Tells’ Christian church in Thailand. The International Family Retreat offers 4 days of “a safe and accepting Christ-centered environment for individuals affected by disability and their families” (www.joniandfriends.org).

GCS reps attend Leadership Lab 2019

Representatives from the Grand Canyon Synod joined other young people and adults from across the Midwest at Augustana College, Illinois, for Leadership Lab 2019.

Sixteen youth, along with Youth Minister Marissa Metevelis, Pastor Matt Metevelis (Reformation Lutheran, Las Vegas) and Pastor Jacqui Pagel explored tactics to have constructive conversations with adults, grow the church, and confirm where their faith and the world intersect.

Community Lutheran Celebration choir plays Carnegie Hall

The Community Lutheran Celebration choir (Las Vegas) sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Sunday May 26th, 2019. The 79 singers from the CLC choir joined seven other church choirs from six states and a province of Canada.

“I was thrilled to be part of the choir and it was a great way to end my tenure as Senior Pastor of CLC,” said Dr. Mark Wickstrom, who is retiring on June 16, 2019.
