Scam Email Warning
A number of ELCA congregations, as well as congregations of various denominations, have reported that their members are receiving scam emails claiming to be from bishops and other leaders, whose email addresses are publicly available, requesting gift card donations for a charitable cause. Religious groups have become easy targets for these types of scams, which take advantage of people's generosity.
Please be aware that any such request does not come from the Bishop, and you should delete the email without responding to it.
And as always, do not click on a link, send money or gift cards, or provide checking account or credit card information in response to any emailed solicitation without checking with a trusted source.
