Publicly Engaged Church

As members of the ELCA, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Together, we achieve things on a scale and scope that we could never do otherwise.

When we act as a coordinated network of advocates and reach out to officials on relevant, timely issues, we effectively impact public policies.

Our Public Engagement Partners

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona (LAMA)

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona (LAMA) joins with the most vulnerable of our society to voice our common needs in the public square, activating our faith in love. As an advocacy ministry of the ELCA, LAMA's purpose is to advocate for justice in the areas of hunger, poverty, and care of God’s creation by speaking with and for those who have little or no political power. LAMA will work with congregations in Arizona — ELCA Lutherans and others — to create and use networks for advocacy on these issues.

Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy in Nevada (LEAN)

Representing member congregations of the Grand Canyon and Sierra Pacific Synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, LEAN advocates for the common good and promotes public policies that reflect the Christian values of peacemaking, hospitality to strangers, care for creation, and concern for people living in poverty and struggling with hunger and disease. Cruzando Fronteras

A new vision for border ministry in Arizona, Cruzando Fronteras (Crossing Borders) is a Spiritual Ramada and Sanctuary that brings together diverse ministries and community programs from both sides of the border. We strive to connect disciples, promote relationships, heal brokenness, dismantle barriers, and to nurture and sustain transformation in our shared border region. Give to Cruzando Fronteras on our donation page by specifying their ministry when you donate. Thank you!

As a public church, we have a responsibility to address issues that affect our neighbors in communities throughout the world.

Thank you for your interest and participation in this endeavor.
