Join ELCA Leaders in Minneapolis for a Liturgical Deep Dive
A New Conversation: Seminar on Lutheran Liturgy Opens Registration for August Gathering
Registration is now open for the inaugural Seminar on Lutheran Liturgy, taking place August 13–15 in Minneapolis, and you’re invited. Designed for rostered ministers, musicians, scholars, and lay leaders across the ELCA, the seminar aims to deepen the liturgical formation of leaders entrusted with guiding our church’s worship life.
Held under the theme “Let It Be With Me According To Your Word: From Praying to Knowing to Doing,” the gathering will feature a lineup of respected voices including Dr. Maxwell E. Johnson (Notre Dame), Lizette Larson-Miller (University of Huron), Ed Foley (Catholic Theological Union), Audrey West (LSTC/Yale), and Amy Kienzle, among others. Sessions will explore the ways in which Lutheran liturgy is rooted in tradition while adapting to serve the living, Spirit-led church.
Music and worship will be woven throughout the event with contributions from Daniel Schwandt, Chad Fothergill, Andrew Schaeffer, Kevin Vaughn, and ensembles including The Minnesota Boychoir and The Summer Singers. These performances are more than aesthetic—they reflect the theological depth and communal expression that shape Lutheran worship.
As a synod committed to equipping leaders and congregations for meaningful, faithful worship, we encourage your participation. This seminar is an opportunity to reflect together on how our shared evangelical catholic heritage continues to shape and inspire the ELCA.
