In Memoriam: Rev. Raymond Stiffler

We pray for Rev. Raymond Stiffler’s family and friends after he passed away on January 20, 2023 in Jamestown, California.

“Ray” Louis Stiffler, was born September 16, 1935 in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Delmar Ray and Albena Birtha (Oberlin) Stiffler. He passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at Sonora Senior Living in Jamestown, California. Terzich & Wilson Cremation-Funeral Home were entrusted with arrangements.

Rev Stiffler’s attended secondary education at NAU, Flagstaff, in 1957. He received his Master of Divinity from Pacific Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA, 1960.

He served as pastor at St. Peters, Pinole, CA, 1960-64; Pastor, Sabaoth Christensted (St. Croix, Virgin Islands), 1964-1969; Pastor, Lord of Mercy, Sparks, NV, 1969-1975; Chaplain, Washoe Medical Center, Reno, NV, 1975-1980; Pastor, Epiphany, San Leandro, CA, 1980; Lihue Lutheran, Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, 1987-1997.

He retired in 1997 and moved to Arizona. He served as a transition pastor at Prince of Peace in Phoenix until 2005.

O God of grace and glory, we remember before you our brother, Pastor Raymond Stiffler. We thank you for giving him to us to know and to love as a companion in our pilgrimage on earth. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see that death has been swallowed up in the victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ, so that we may live in confidence and hope until, by your call, we are gathered to our heavenly home in the company of all your saints; through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.
