Why Your Legacy Gift Matters

You may have heard that “leaving a legacy” is important to our congregations and the Grand Canyon Synod. But what makes legacy giving so different from writing a check or donating online?

Legacy gifts…

  1. Focus on the future.
The current support ministries receive from annual gifts each year is critical. A legacy gift is a support-system ministries can count on for generations to come.
Ask yourself: If you could live forever, would you continue to support your congregation, synod, or another ministry that matters to you? If the answer is yes, a legacy gift can immortalize your support.

  2. Do not affect your current finances.
You can take care of your top priorities, yourself and your loved ones, now, while providing for your congregation in the future.

  3. Help recognize your Congregation and the Grand Canyon Synod’s role in your life.
If your church family or ministry has had a significant impact on your life or the life of someone you love, a legacy gift is a heartfelt way to honor that relationship.

YOU CAN DO AMAZING THINGS

Through your legacy gift, you have a special chance to reflect the caring person you are today far into the future. The Grand Canyon Synod partners with the ELCA Foundation so that your congregation can utilize Regional Gift Planner, Lisa Higginbotham, CFRE, at no additional cost. Lisa has been a resource for our Synod for seven years. She has a wealth of knowledge and deep toolbox of resources and comes with no agenda except to advocate for our Congregations and Ministries.

If you have a charitable heart for our congregation, the Grand Canyon Synod, or other ELCA Related Charities, Lisa can use all her resources, creativity, and tax efficiency to help you write your best gift to those you love!
