Ordination of Pastor Ruby Myers at Zion Lutheran in Tinley Park, IL

Bishop Hutterer joins Bishop Yehiel Curry of the Metro Chicago Synod in ordaining Pastor Ruby Myers, who has accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Pastor Ruby's Ordination Service will be at Zion Lutheran Church (17100 69th Ave, Tinley Park, IL 60477) on Saturday, 11/13/2021, at 11 am Central. A reception will follow in the Zion Center.

Hodza Yaa Ahalyani (Wisdom Keepers) begin leadership journey

Sunday, August 8, 2021 launched an exciting new era at the Navajo Lutheran Mission, as local Navajo leadership is being developed at the Mission’s House of Prayer.

The new Hodza Yaa Ahalyani (Wisdom Keepers) are Rock Point residents Patty Charley, Patterson Yazzie, and Benedict Bedoni, who were affirmed in ceremonies by Bishop Hutterer, Reverend Jacqueline Pagel, and Mission Pastor Kate Adelman.

Bishop Hutterer attends Arizona Faith Network breakfast

Bishop Deborah K. Huttererer recently attended a breakfast sponsored by the Arizona Faith Network and Institutional Baptist Church. The breakfast, focused on voting rights, featured the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Rev. Jackson thanked Bishop Hutterer for the work ELCA leaders have been engaged in over the years on behalf of our neighbors.

Bishop Hutterer: To care for creation, follow your love

This Earth Day, I write in celebration of God’s creation. I am an early bird. I enjoy the pre-dawn quiet. I especially enjoy the emergence of birds and their song as darkness gives way to light.

By far, my favorite bird is the scarlet tanager. Their breeding ground is in the eastern United States, where I was blessed with a few glimpses of the bright and exotic red bird with black wings. I can vividly recall those moments.
